The Day The Flags Fall

On the day the smoke rises higher then the buildings

When the people scream, and the flags fall to the ground

Tell all the people to come together and kneel where they first began.

The people who are gone are surrounded by beauty

Brighter then the flames that won’t burn out

And the Light of their life will not fade like the smoke.

The ones who came to help, look just like your heart, mom

They gave themselves to give others a chance.

That day will help the people see that color doesn’t matter

The outside is only a nice wrapping.

It’s the house for the soul and that’s what really matters.

The gold will fade and silver won’t clatter as loud,
but don’t worry that doesn’t matter

When the people lose the shiny stuff, they will look inside their hearts

Then the people will come back together again
and their hearts will grow like flowers

Until the night can be quiet again and the people not afraid

The men will take the stars from the sky and wear them on their clothes.

The moms may cry, the kids may be sad, but only for a time

The gold hearts will shine as the black ones fade away.

When the flags fall to the ground, the country will sing again

They will pray again and sing good songs
and take care of the old and the young.

The sick will live like I did mom, in a home not a steel place

And the world will be filled with beautiful heart people
who really do love each other

So, don’t worry, a heart lives forever and ever

You are my hero, just like the others who help

And heart heroes last forever mom,
Heart heroes last forever
